Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend after the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they begin the search of hiring a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
