Ex- BBC Specialists Undergo MPs' Inquiry In the Wake of Assertions of Prejudice in Leaked Memorandum
We begin with questions from Conservative lawmaker the committee chair, who oversees the group.
She opens by giving background to the disclosed memorandum authored by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.
"It is not my wish for the BBC leaning toward one side or the other, I just want it balanced, impartial and fair," he declares.
When asked whether he considers the BBC is systematically partial, Prescott replies: "No, I do not. To be clear, tons of stuff the BBC creates is top-tier - including informative and fictional programming."
But he adds: "There exists significant effort that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
The second ex-adviser British Broadcasting Corporation specialist interviewed by the group, Caroline Daniel, remarks she takes the BBC very seriously and that it has a "persistent practice and active debate" across evolving and intricate issues.
"Whether the BBC was prepared to have a thorough dialogue and argument and implement changes?" she asks herself. "As I see it, indeed, they were."
