Jujutsu Kaisen: The Execution Film Aims to Resolve the Anime's Biggest Issue

JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not entirely an brand-new feature. Rather, the latest film from the Jujutsu Kaisen supernatural series is a compilation of the series' second installment combined with the first two episodes of its next season, which begins the Culling Games storyline from the source material. This positions Execution, which just got a fresh preview, the first way to see the commencement of the forthcoming season ahead of its premiere in early 2026. The film debuts in Japan on Nov. 7, and in North American regions on December 5.

The Culling Games Storyline

In the Culling Games plot, Elite sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu makes his entrance into the show and is assigned by sorcery authorities to take down his classmate Yuji Itadori. Their long-awaited clash occurs for the first time on the cinema screen, and if the animation team at the production house have an exceptional piece as episodes 40 and 41 waiting in the wings for fans this holiday season, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may prove to be the gift that everyone has hoped for.

The Thunderclap Issue

"Thunderclap" from season two is often hailed as among the best moments in anime history, notwithstanding the major issues in 2023 when the installments originally aired. It was stated that the animation team were suffering from crunch conditions to the point, and the released version that was shown at the time was unfinished and reportedly not what the artists originally planned.

The Epic Battle

The scene features a heavily anticipated fight between two powerful sorcerers, the King of Curses and the Eight-Handled Sword. It includes experimental animation, masterful camera work, and dynamic fight choreography. A later Blu-ray release gave the animators a chance to include extra footage to enhance the fight. So it seemed possible Execution could improve the battle even more. However, examining the new trailer, it's difficult to determine if that fight has been given extra attention. It'd be a shame if it was not, because a moment so epic has to be seen on the biggest screen with the optimal viewing experience.

The Second Season's Triumph

The sophomore season of JuJutsu Kaisen boosted the show to become the award-winning series of 2024, and when the two-part finale were released back to back, it was the topic of conversation for weeks in the animation fandom. Fans knew about the issues behind the scenes, which made them value what they saw even more. People eagerly awaited to see if the Blu-ray, released on March 18, would add any additional scenes to the battle or to see if it was improved in any way, and were overjoyed to see precisely that, alongside tone adjustments, smoother movement, and altered color palette.

The Feature's Advantage

But the home video can only touch up what has previously shown in the broadcast edition, whereas the movie has the chance to do the sequence justice with more adjustments and freshly created footage.

A Masterpiece

Currently, these two episodes serve as the masterpiece of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be handled with care by the studio, particularly given the issues they faced at the time. It's garnered the attention of series enthusiasts all over the globe, and the Culling Games storyline is a much-expected plotline of next year. If the production company wants to begin the year strongly, revisit the series' best moment once again in theaters with the ultimate presentation we've experienced so far.
