Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his televised remarks.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a European match after voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The manager has refused to reveal on whether he got an explanation from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the team's response was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
Jones also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “I understand there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were never meant to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a desire to win,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and on a positive run.”
