'Our Mission Involves Exclusively Killing' - The Way Sudan's Ruthless Militia Perpetrated a Massacre

Militiamen chuckle as they move on the back of a pick-up truck, hurrying past a line of multiple corpses and driving towards the sinking Sudanese sun.

"See this extensive effort. Observe this instance of mass destruction," a combatant cheers.

The individual grins as he points the recording device on his own face and his fellow fighters, their Rapid Support Forces identification visible: "They are all going to perish like this."

The combatants are exulting in a massacre that relief organizations believe killed in excess of two thousand people in the Sudanese urban center of the Darfur city in recent weeks.

A City Severed from the World

Following their control of the city under siege for approximately 24 months, from late summer the militia advanced to consolidate its control and prevent access for the surviving inhabitants.

Satellite images demonstrate that fighters started to construct a enormous berm - a built-up dirt embankment - surrounding the perimeter of the city, closing roads and preventing relief supplies.
