President Trump Invites Families of Attacked Military Soldiers to the White House
President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.
He added that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Tragic Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The president stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Attendees gathered over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist law enforcement in the capital.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the principal of her previous school, informed the press. “She was caring, caring and always ready to help others.”
Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Steps and Policy Revisions
Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and halt providing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general Pam Bondi told the program that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor informed the crowd at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
