Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar failings from his team in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase of this nature with results so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
