The Streaming Giant Casts Ideal Actor for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.
Netflix announced recently that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bon Clay. This character possesses the power to change into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a interpretation of that role reimagined as non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, as in the original manga and anime.
Escola will work alongside several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to the screen, featuring leader Mr. 0, played by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and a familiar face, who also joins the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.
Even though the role is a important part of the group, the persona won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this signals a significant shift in the placement of the character’s debut, one that could signal more adjustments to the story’s structure.
Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the role. Along with their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.
The platform’s adapted One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its season two on March 10, 2026.
