Almost 55,000 homes have reportedly been harmed by the storms, with their items and temporary homes damaged.

Heavy precipitation over the past week have intensified the extremely difficult situation of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the region, as stated by aid agencies.

"Awful" Conditions Creates Severe Threats

A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.

"The recent weather was truly horrendous for the people. The downpours were so powerful... And the gales were so forceful," stated the spokesperson.

Authorities voice extreme concern that children sheltering in temporary structures in soaked clothing will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Deaths and Extensive Destruction

The health ministry have reported that one baby has passed away from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in building collapses caused by the harsh conditions.

Other reports put a increased number of casualties. Authorities reported that numerous residential buildings had totally fallen and scores had sustained partial collapse.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 emergency shelters severely flooded.
  • Many people forced to find new shelter.

Aid Efforts Seen as Insufficient

Groups have increased shipments of tents, blankets and garments after the truce began, but they stress there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"We are working relentlessly to bring in that aid and to hand it out, but the scale of the requirements is so vast that we continue to see a great number of people and children who are genuinely enduring hardship each evening," warned one official.

Long-Term Issues and Agreement Provisions

The next stage of the agreement includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of military forces, and other provisions.

Relief bodies have stressed the imperative for "expanded and ongoing aid to address pressing and future requirements."

The hostilities was triggered by an attack in the autumn of 2023. Later military operations have resulted in a substantial number of fatalities in the region, according to health ministry figures.
